The long, hot summer heatwave has left us with loads of wonderful memories (as well as some very dodgy tan lines). Okay, so we spent most of the time lying in a darkened room watching Love Island and complaining about how hot it was – but it’s been a blast. And we’ve loved seeing all your brilliant photos posted on Instagram and Facebook as part of our 21 Days of Summer Challenge. Here’s a taster of some of our faves. We think they encapsulate the joy, the beauty and the downright ridiculousness of summer 2018…

“The secret is out… Scotland does have summer… occasionally! Summer evening views to the Isle of Jura… west is definitely best on a night like this!” says photographer @lochgmarcp
We can’t get enough of this photo by @lou_viva of her baby’s first ever swim. His ickle face says it all.
Photo-worthy sunsets are ten a penny in the Caribbean, but in Blackpool… Photo by @antclark9
This snap of Ted the working cocker spaniel, by @ddgaine is extra special because it was taken during a break from his training to be a professional sniffer dog. Go Ted!

@eyecandyphotouk showed us all how it’s done.
Temperatures regularly shot up to 30°C in the UK for the first time in decades. This wonderful Yorkshire scene was shot by @gilleadey
