Spring gardens
for beautiful photos

Britain’s best gardens to see in spring

Vibrant blossoms and cool woodland walks, trees bursting into leaf and sunny skies (we hope!) – this is the best season of the year to be outside, exploring Britain’s gorgeous spring gardens with your camera. We’ve chosen our top five to kick your spring photography into life now that May is here… but there are plenty more to explore all over the country. We know you’ll have your favourites, so remember to share your favourite British spring garden photos with us on Facebook and Instagram!

Bodnant Garden, Wales

Bodnant Garden is a National Trust property boasting wonderful views of Snowdonia, grand terraced lawns and a gloriously romantic waterfall – the photo opportunities are endless. Now that spring is in full swing, don’t miss the Dell: it’s hidden deep within a wooded valley, with the babbling sounds of the River Hiraethlyn. For a great spring photo opportunity, head to the skating pond and capture the reflections of the rhododendrons and weeping willows.

RHS Rosemoor, Devon

A world-renowned RHS garden, Rosemoor is enchanting whatever the season, but in spring, it’s a joy to behold, and the blossom in the Cherry Garden is the icing on the cake. There’s something for everyone here – kids will love exploring the ‘Hobbit Hole’ and Mr McGregor’s Shed (definitely one for the photo album!), and the fruit and vegetable garden will delight visitors young and old. There are sculptures, children’s trails and craft activities throughout, so there’s always plenty to do!

Howick Hall Gardens, Northumberland

As well as being the home of Earl Grey tea (make sure you stop for a cuppa!), this beautiful property is best known for its spectacular displays of spring bulbs and the Silverwood garden. The woodland walks here are renowned, and the fabulous Arboretum is magical. For the energetic, the Long Walk, which follows Howick Burn all the way down to the sea, is a photo-worthy adventure not to be missed.
Howick Hall, Alnwick, Northumberland NE66 3LB; May opening times: 10.30am-6pm

RHS Wisley, Surrey

This glorious RHS garden houses one of the largest plant collections in the world, and spring is the perfect season to enjoy it in all its glory. Right now, Wisley is exploding into a riot of colour – you’ll be treated to gorgeous swathes of bulbs and orchards full of fruit blossoms, as well as glorious rhododendrons, azaleas and more. Lose yourself in the beautiful woodland winding paths on Battleston Hill – keep your camera at the ready for the views!
RHS Wisley, Wisley Lane, Woking, Surrey GU23 6QB; May opening times: 10am-6pm

Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire

With 3,800 acres of National Trust parkland and gardens, peaceful woodlands and a magnificent lake, Clumber is a delight to visit in spring when the woodland is alive with birdsong and bluebells. The beautiful walled kitchen garden is famous for growing hundreds of varieties of fruit, vegetables and herbs, and has the biggest collection of culinary rhubarbs in the country. Clumber also boasts the longest avenue of lime trees in Europe – the majestic Lime Tree Avenue is over two miles long, making it a perfect photo opportunity!
Clumber Park, Worksop, Nottinghamshire S80 3AZ; May opening times: 7am-7pm

Three glorious ways to show off your spring photos

Don’t leave those fabulous spring pics to languish in digital oblivion! Those beautiful photos were taken to be seen, not hidden! Here are just a few ways to show them off to the world.

Create a spring canvas
A photo canvasis absolutely perfect for showing off your beautiful spring photos – the ones you’re really proud of! A canvas display is a unique way of bringing your favourite pictures to life, and a big blooming photo canvas will completely transform a room. So bring the outdoors inside with a beautiful spring scene – it’s a wonderful, celebratory way to keep that feeling all year long!

Make a spring photo book
Capture those glorious spring moments and make them into a photo book! You’ll thank yourself in months to come – it’ll be a perfect pick-me-up during those dark winter evenings! Jessops photo books come in a huge range of sizes and styles. If you adore your spring photos and want to showcase them for all the world to see, we recommend a premium layflat coffee table photo book – just make sure you keep it in pride of place for maximum admiration! You can make a spring photo book of anything – snaps of your garden as it bursts into bloom, your favourite trees and flowers, or a simple family day in the park, capturing all the flowers, birds, dogs and ice creams on the way. It’s the perfect way to store your memories!

Go for a multi print
An easy way to add an instant spring vibe to your home is to create a fabulous multi-print with your best, most colourful spring photos. These work particularly well if you have a theme: those spring sunrises, bluebell woods, baby lambs, a sunny family day out. Multi prints can be displayed on walls or mantelpieces. They come in pretty wooden frames and are very cost-effective as you can swap your photos and change them up whenever you fancy a new look!
