10 fabulous photos that sum up summer 2018

10 photos that sum up the summer of 2019

The long, hot summer heatwave has left us with loads of wonderful memories (as well as some very dodgy tan lines). Okay, so we spent most of the time lying in a darkened room watching Love Island and complaining about how hot it was – but it’s been a blast. And we’ve loved seeing all your brilliant photos posted on Instagram and Facebook as part of our 21 Days of Summer Challenge. Here’s a taster of some of our faves. We think they encapsulate the joy, the beauty and the downright ridiculousness of summer 2018…

Ocean Activities

We went to new extremes to cool down

The shops sold out of electric fans, causing mass panic nationwide, and we were forced to get creative when it came to cooling down. This flyboarding photo by @tanianehme1 shows how much fun getting cool can be.

Meadow at sunset

It was even sunny in Scotland

“The secret is out… Scotland does have summer… occasionally! Summer evening views to the Isle of Jura… west is definitely best on a night like this!” says photographer @lochgmarcp

Baby and parent in Pool

Our Instagram feed was awash with ridiculously cute babies in sun hats

We can’t get enough of this photo by @lou_viva of her baby’s first ever swim. His ickle face says it all.

Pier at Sunset

Blackpool beach went all tropical on us

Photo-worthy sunsets are ten a penny in the Caribbean, but in Blackpool… Photo by @antclark9

Dog running through water

The dog had to do this all the time

This snap of Ted the working cocker spaniel, by @ddgaine is extra special because it was taken during a break from his training to be a professional sniffer dog. Go Ted!

Purple Sky

The sky went a ridiculous shade of pink. #nofilter

No, this isn’t the south of France. This is a lavender field. In Hitchin, just north of London. Photo by @sparkle71h

Woman in sea

There was only one way to get any sleep

@eyecandyphotouk showed us all how it’s done.

Beach Huts

For the first time ever, it was a good idea to rent a beach hut in Yorkshire

Temperatures regularly shot up to 30°C in the UK for the first time in decades. This wonderful Yorkshire scene was shot by @gilleadey

We may have loved moaning about the heat… but secretly we had a ball

That face sums it up! Photo by @hayley.law.123

3 things you need to do with your best summer pictures right now

Create your own wall art

Some photos deserve to be treated as very special. You know the ones – they make you glow with pride when you look at them. Put your favourite summer images on a giant canvas, in a frame, or even on a wooden panel like this one. Displaying your lovely pictures on your walls means you can enjoy summer all year round. https://photo.jessops.com/product-category/wall-art/

Make a summer holiday album

You’ll never regret taking the time to create photo books of your holidays – and it’s never been easier to do. See here for more. https://photo.jessops.com/product-category/photo-books/

Turn them into posters

Print some of your favourite photos and frame them or turn them into posters – it’s the perfect way to instantly update your kids’ bedrooms (and all those summer memories will cheer them up now they’re back at school).
